Tancarville  Chamberlain
Tancarville Castle, birth place  on Chamberlain Famillies groups together a series of  XI, XII, XIII, XIV , XV, XVI and XVIII° century buildings.
XII°  Square tower where William Marshall lived as a bachelor in his cousin’s house: Guillaume  (William)  chamberlain  of Henry II king of England, duke of Normandy, Anjou, Maine, Aquitaine.

On the clod are a collection of XIII° buildings with a fortified door, barbican, and  donjon wich were  reorganised in 1410 during the 100 years war.

The walls all around  were established by  de Gray  during English occupation. An actual familly de Gray live north of  G.B. and is  named Squire of Tancarville in mémorie of that.

At the end of the war, Harcourt  french squire of the place  established  towers , a large room with fire place  and his own  casthe in the square tower.His daughter Jeanne died without  children, her cousin inherit Tancarville.

Later the place has been sold, now it belongs to a private  “copropriété” outside visies are possible by the way of Amis du chateau de Tancarville.
